Val Johnson has spent the last two years during Covid, composing these paintings and mosaics for this exhibition. Most of the oils have been done en plein air, and finished in the studio. The paintings are not photographic versions of the landscape but as she sees it- shape, colour and pattern, and she also uses linear lines which run through the composition.

Anita McIntyre. A Survey 1970 to 2022 examines Anita McIntyre’s remarkable career in ceramics from student works of the 1970s to recent explorations produced immediately prior to the present exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is the exploration of the essence and expressive power of drawing, primarily with ink on paper. The subject matter is landscape, specific landscapes, because they have a story to tell. Research leads Carolyn to the place, but the experience of being in the environment for some time, immersed within it, drives the drawing.

Clay is like stone, glaze is like a rock is a body of sculptural work which is the result of ongoing ceramic material experiments. These material experiments deviate from traditional processes in the hope of finding new systems of building form. Traditional ceramics practice favours skill, control and the expected outcome over chance, however, when chance is embraced in the making process interesting results can arise.

2019 recipient of the Audrey Fagan Young Woman’s Enrichment Grant, Lily Sharrock wants to share her joy in creativity with friends, family and the wider community with her exhibition entitled ‘Creativity on Wheels’. The exhibition reflects Lily’s free wheeling spirit of play and experimentation. Her dedication to her digital art practice is evidenced by her growing level of skill, which is both hard won and considerable due to the freedom of movement challenges brought about by her disability.

The genre of still life has a long history in the Western canon arguably dating back to at least New Kingdom Egypt and continuing through to today with high points including the glorious productions of 17th-Century Dutch and Flemish flower paintings and the beautiful compositions of 17th-century Spanish art. Kim Shannon has embraced still life as the core of her art practice and while the broadaer history of the genre is quietly acknowledged, her allegiance to the objects that form part of her domestic life places her clearly in the present day…

“I love to paint and I love to travel. It has been the inspiration for most of the solo exhibitions I’ve had. I do the sketch on site and the painting back in my studio. Sometimes I paint en plein air. What interest me are the people, the places and the landscape. I believe that every painting has a story to tell. I love the outback of Australia and have painted out there many times. I love to travel overseas and especially love France. I am an intuitive painter. Carmel McCrow is an established Canberra artist whose career covers more than 30 years of painting, teaching and exhibiting in many places around the world. But it is here in Australia amid the forms and colours of our landscape that she is most inspired.
