From baskets to blooms is a continuation of the journey from Barbara's last exhibition Memory Lines where her work 'used the flotsam and jetsam that erupted from the shed' of her husband who had been in Nursing Home for many years. Barbara, now widowed, has found inspiration in the garden of her new home.

An exhibition of work by the Canberra Photographic Society as past of the National Photography Festival. Details of launch will be published as soon as possible.

Mosaic workshop: Roman Replica Mosaics
Sat/Sun 2nd and 3rd August
Sydney based mosaic artist, Christina Macaulay, will guide participants through some of the traditional laying techniques to create a replica of a segment of a roman mosaic, 25cm square.
Christina trained in mosaic at the Ravenna School in Italy and with Emma Biggs in London. She teaches at her Newtown Studio and the Mosman Community College and has taught residential courses at the MacGregor Summer and Winter Schools. Christina has completed several commissions for private clients in Sydney and Canberra and exhibits her work locally. She is a skilled tutor who enjoys sharing her extensive knowledge and skills in this ancient art form with her students.
Cost: $275 per person (Includes tuition, all materials, grouts, adhesive, backing board and use of tools)

Bookbinders' guild workshops - make your own books

Exotic Coptic Books
Sunday 6th July 2008 - 10am to 4pm
Learn three variations on the ancient Coptic binding. The different styles can be used to make journals, sketchbooks or alternative structures to hold your own art work.

Creative Book Structures
Sunday 27th July 2008 - 10am to 4pm
Creative Book Structures will focus on structures that can be creatively adapted to suit a variety of purposes for the book arts. They will include pamphlet sewing, types of concertina books, a hard cover triangular fold book and a booklet in wrapped leather.

Book Making for Traditional or Artists Books
Sunday 17th August 2008 - 10am to 4pm
This class will introduce the basics of traditional bookbinding. You will make one hard cover book in a traditional case binding style and a second book adapted for a more adventurous style.

Courses costs are $85 or $75 for Guild members and include all materials. Classes held Woden Community Room.
