 Terms and conditions about Strathnairn Arts workshops and courses

Please note that workshops may not run if the required minimum number of enrollments is not reached. If this occurs, any fees paid will be refunded in full. Cancellations 14 days prior, will be refunded in full – within 14 days of the starting date, NO refund will be will be given. To secure a place, we encourage you to book at least 21 days prior to the start date.

In the event of Extreme or Catastrophic fire ratings in the ACT, Strathnairn Arts is compulsorily closed to the public, and workshops will be rescheduled or fees refunded, depending on tutors availability and participants’ wishes.

Strathnairn Arts has all necessary public liability insurance, but a failure to follow safety instructions may result in you not being covered in the event of an accident or incident. Please contact us at info@strathnairn.com.au for more information.

This open workshop approach tailors instruction to each individual’s level of experience.  The workshop will instruct you in all aspects of casting a small bronze sculpture from making a wax form to finish with a polished piece using the lost wax investment-moulding process.  We welcome students at any level of sculptural / art experience.

Peter Latona has worked as a figurative sculptor and a bronze casting teacher for 30 years and is a Strathnairn studio holder.

His commissions include those of past prime ministers.

WATERCOLOUR EN PLEIN AIR WORKSHOP

These 4 hour workshops will be conducted outdoors at Strathnairn by Mark Dober, our artist-in-residence. Mark will take you through all the steps to create a vibrant and well observed watercolour painting. How do I go about editing and structuring my painting and mixing colours? What mark making and technique do I bring to the broad sky and the grassy expanse of pastoral landscape? Working in the landscape you see and feel nature directly, and this will encourage immediacy and directness in your painting.

Cost > $80 per Saturday 4 hour session – $160 for both sessions 8 hours total

This is a two sessions workshop where kids will get the opportunity to form clay into objects inspired by ancient Cyladic and Mycenaean artefacts and figurines. Ancient history has been Sally’s lifelong inspiration and she is eager to share her passion.

What to bring: A snack and a water bottle

What to wear: Old clothes and enclosed shoes

Cost: $50 for 2 sessions

Beginners to advanced, everyone is welcome

No teaching is provided

BYO materials – easels and drawing boards are available

BRING A STORY PROJECT with Idil Abdullahi

Inviting young artists (12+) to be part of an inspired Muslim community youth project. Modelled on the idea of ‘bring a plate’, but instead of food we ask for you to bring a story that you would like to share and have turned into an artwork that decorates the plates you make.

Over two workshops, we hope to provide an opportunity for you to create objects while discussing important issues relevant to you and the group, while enjoying the creative journey and making.
